Pumpkin Hunt
A WordPress plugin I designed, built and sell: visitors hunt for pumpkins hidden around a site and win a coupon, with flying bats and a dangling spider. Easter and Christmas modes, no jQuery, works with page caching.

( The project )
Seasonal promotions usually mean a banner and a discount code. I wanted something visitors actually play with: pumpkins hidden on random pages, a counter in the corner, and a reward when they find them all. It keeps people clicking through the site and gives them a reason to buy.
Pumpkin Hunt is my own product, not client work. I designed it, wrote it and packaged it for sale on plugin marketplaces. The demo above is Hollow Oak Coffee, a fictional café I set up to show it off.
What I built.
- 01
The hunt
An item appears at a random spot on a random page, at most one per page view. The site owner sets how many to find and how often they show up. Collected items fly into the counter.
- 02
The reward
When the last one is found: a popup with the owner's message, a coupon code with a Copy button, an optional button and confetti. Start and end dates switch the whole thing on and off by themselves.

Three seasons, one plugin
Halloween (pumpkins, bats, a spider that drops when you hover it), Easter (eggs, butterflies) and Christmas (presents, snowflakes, a bauble). All artwork is inline SVG.

Light and cache-safe
One small script and stylesheet, no jQuery. Progress lives in the visitor's browser, so nothing is written to the database, it works behind page caching and there are no cookies to declare. Respects "reduce motion" and works with the keyboard.
The reward & settings.
