Chemical Collective
Custom cart and checkout logic for a European research-chemicals store: warehouse order routing, print-on-demand splitting and shipping rules by country, postcode and product mix.

( The project )
Chemical Collective is a Netherlands-based store selling lab-tested research chemicals, headshop gear and merch across Europe. It is a high-risk store: mainstream payment providers and hosted platforms won't touch it, so it runs on self-hosted WooCommerce, and everything a normal store gets from apps has to be built.
My part was the cart and checkout: the logic that decides where each order is shipped from, what it can be shipped with, and what happens to it once it's paid. It runs on top of several payment methods, including card, bank transfer and crypto, plus European carriers.
What I built.
- 01
Order routing across warehouses
When an order is paid, it is routed to the Dutch, Czech or German warehouse based on its products and shipping method. Each route gets its own order status, store manager and carrier labels in the local language.
- 02
Print-on-demand split
Merch made by Printify and partner printers is recognised down to the product variation, so those items go to the right supplier instead of a warehouse.
- 03
Shipping rules that follow the law
Shipping methods are shown or hidden by country, region and postcode, priced by product category and quantity, with PO boxes blocked and country-specific notices at checkout.
- 04
A checkout built for the business
Marketing consent saved on each order, bank-transfer instructions with the order number, stock status inside variation dropdowns, pre-orders, an AJAX mini-cart, and admin columns and filters for country and shipping method.
